SWC MMA Rules
Bout Duration Amateur
- Bouts shall be 3 Rounds
- Rounds will be 3 minutes in duration
- There will be a 1 minute rest period between rounds
- There will be no overtime periods
Bout Duration Pro
- Bouts shall be 3 Rounds
- Rounds will be 5 minutes in duration
- There will be a 1 minute rest period between rounds
- There will be no overtime periods
Bout Duration Amateur Championship
- Bouts shall be 5 Rounds
- Rounds will be 3 minutes in duration
- There will be a 1 minute rest period between rounds
- There will be no overtime periods
Bout Duration Pro Championship
- Bouts shall be 5 Rounds
- Rounds will be 5 minutes in duration
- There will be a 1 minute rest period between rounds
- There will be no overtime periods
Equipment
- Mouthpiece is Mandatory
- Male Cup is Mandatory
- SWC Approved MMA Gloves Mandatory (Provided by SWC)
- No Shoes are Permitted, Bare feet ONLY
- No Greasy Substances Allowed Anywhere on a contestant's Body
- No Jewelry or Hanging Ornaments from a contestant's Body
- Hand Wraps must be Approved by SWC
- No Loose Hanging Clothing that may Cause an Opponent to get Caught in it
Fouls
- Head Butting
- Eye Gouging
- Fish Hooking
- Hair Pulling
- Putting a finger into any orifice or laceration of an opponent
- Small Joint Manipulation
- Striking to the Spine or Back of the Head
- Striking Downward, Using the Point of the Elbow
- Throat Strikes of any Kind
- No Heel-Hooks (only allowed in Pro)
- Grabbing the Trachea
- Grabbing the Clavicle
- Clawing, Pinching or Twisting the Flesh
- Kicking the Head of a Grounded Opponent
- Kneeing the Head of a Grounded Opponent
- Kicking to the Kidney with the Heel
- Spiking an Opponent to the Canvas on his Head or Neck
- Throwing an Opponent out of the Ring
- Holding the Shorts or Gloves of an Opponent
- Holding the Ropes,Turnbuckles, fence or cage
- Spitting at an Opponent
- Any Unsportsmanlike Conduct the Referee Deems Dangerous to an Opponent
- Attacking an Opponent During a Break
- Attacking an Opponent While Under the Care of the Referee
- Attacking an Opponent After the Bell
- Flagrantly Disregarding the Instructions of the Referee
- Timidity- Including, but not limited to:
- Avoiding contact w/ opponent
- Intentionally or consistently dropping mouthpiece
- Faking injury
- Interference by the Corner
- Throwing in the Towel
*Standing and striking a downed opponent is allowed for Pro-am, and pro bouts.
